Patient demographics and the explosion of IoT devices like wearables are generating a wave of patient generated health data (PGHD) that will require healthcare payers and providers to change the way they view and interact with this data. At Digi International our SmartSense division has been dealing with a similar challenge created by the over 1.5 billion data points every month generated by our food and pharmaceutical safety solutions. Our experience has created key learnings about users, organizational learning, and “natural experiments” that are immediately transferable from our offerings in safety and workflow management to patient care and healthcare operations.
